Terry Gibson has never set foot in a temple of doom. There are no leather whips or wide-brimmed fedoras stashed away at his office. He has never been held hostage, tied up or otherwise inconvenienced by a gang of angry Nazis. Nor does he make a habit of sneaking through ancient tombs or ominously named temples, chasing ne’er-do-wells or recovering stolen relics. In fact, although he is an archeologist, Gibson is probably the antithesis of Indiana Jones, the serial adventurer first portrayed by Harrison Ford in the 1981 movie Raiders of the Lost Ark. “That’s mythology, really,” Gibson scoffs.
